Ancestral Cultures
cofan.JPG

Ecuador’s indigenous people have been residing in the Andes, Amazon Basin and lowlands long before colonialists even knew South America existed. Today they still retain the ancient languages as well as their unique culture.
Visitors to Ecuador will find it to be a country of great natural beauty and diversity. There is no doubt that the hard working, friendly Ancestral people of Ecuador contribute to the diversity of this interesting country.

Know the guardians of the rainforest. The Cofan had remained relatively isolated from Western society, located within the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve deep in Ecuador’s Amazon.
Experience the fascinating culture of the Tsachilas (colorados), learn about the practice of Shamanism and help to protect their fast disappearing way of life.
Visit the Otavalos villages, many workshops where weavings, musical instruments and other handicrafts are made.

Discover the indigenous traditional knowledge!
